friday five

inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, emily of cupcakes and cashmere, i have decided to do five of my weekly favorites every friday.  it's nice to just remember things like this that make you happy and brighten your day, especially after a long and busy work week.  i am very much looking forward to the weekend, which i will spend running errands, catching up on some reading, and finally seeing some of my sorority sisters.

happy birthday mommy!

{cake recipe, frosting recipe}

fun (or not so fun) fact: about 45 seconds after that picture was taken, the cake broke into three pieces.  i had to fix it with extra frosting we had in the pantry.

the cake is amazing though!  i highly recommended trying out those two recipes.

love you!

missoni (for target) fever

though i was disappointed by the long wait time i had to purchase this item from the missoni for target collaboration (three hours of just sitting on that website!), i was glad when the one and only thing i wanted came last week.  i had been worrying for a few days after reading stories of others who had their orders processed and then cancelled because of crashed servers, but it worked out in the end.  i am so happy with my purchase and i cannot wait to use it!

unfortunately, this item is out of stock on  if you do decide to venture to eBay to look for some of the missoni for target products, really refine your search.  this make-up bag was originally $19.99, but i found someone selling it on eBay for $74.99. hmm...

i hope that some of you were lucky (and patient) enough to get some of the items!

past and present.

past: i was doing homework late at night, hoping procrastination would lead to an A+ paper.  i was living in my sorority house with thirty wonderful ladies (whom i miss dearly).  i walked to class everyday -  even during 100+ hours of snow.  i thought college were the best four years of my life.

present: i am a college graduate of syracuse university with a B.A. in international relations.  i am saving up enough money to move out of my parent's house and find an apartment of my own.  i commute to work in new york city where i work in communications and marketing.  i know college was fun, but more great times are waiting.
