sisterhood: recruitment style - part two

Accessories are a great way to spice up an outfit.  And during recruitment, it can also be a great conversation starter.  Pick pieces that don't clash with your outfit and are things that you would wear on a normal day.  If you're unsure what to wear, choose simple pieces that go with anything.

Whatever you do, don't wear a watch.  The last thing you want is to look at your watch, even if it's just out of habit, during your conversation with a sister.  It could give her the idea that you're not interested in the conversation, even if she really does have your full attention.  If you're like me and wear a watch everyday, choose bracelets and a few bangles to wear on your wrist instead.

{A helpful tip} Jewelry from places like Forever21 or H&M can turn your fingers green, mostly because the piece isn't made from pure metal.  To prevent this, coat the inside of the piece {and any other part that may come in contact with your skin} with clear nail polish to create a barrier.  I recommend doing a few coats of this just as a precaution.  Also, whenever you go to wash your hands, make sure you take the jewelry off!  Wet skin, whether it's water or perspiration, when in contact with pieces from stores like these can also cause discoloring of your skin.  If this does happen to you, soap, water, and rubbing alcohol can remove the stain.  Unfortunately though, it will take a lot patience and perhaps a day or two before it goes away.
