friday's fancies: outfit crush

As I mentioned in a post last week, I turn to Pinterest and my favorite bloggers and celebrities for outfit inspiration. There were a few people I thought of including for this week's outfit crush-themed Friday's Fancies, but I kept coming back to Ashley Greene. In my opinion, she's got great style - classic and trendy, feminine with a bit of edge - on and off the red carpet and seems incredibly sweet and friendly. And that's all on top of being quite beautiful. Let's not forget, she's also been featured in DKNY's Spring and Fall 2012 campaigns so clearly she's doing something right.

I chose a look that I think works for day and night. Despite being a photo from 2010, I think this is pretty current and spot-on for fall with {faux} leather leggings, plaid, and suede accessories. Dainty and simple jewelry adds a sweet feminine touch that compliments this outfit so well.

I'm a fan of the leather trend for fall and am on the hunt for leather leggings. Is this something you would wear?

And don't forget to enter my beauty giveaway before Sunday! I'm even throwing in a few extra surprises... Have a great weekend!

makeup & nail polish giveaway!

If there's one thing you should know about me, it's that I love nail polish and makeup. It takes a good amount of will power for me to go into Sephora, Ulta, department store, or drugstore and not buy a beauty item.

As a thanks to all of you to being wonderful readers and supporters, and since it's one of my favorite things, I thought a few of these items would be a great giveaway!

{OPI 'My Very First Knockwurst', Butter LONDON 'All Hail the Queen' and 'Bluey', Essie Luxeffects 'As Gold As It Gets'}

{Julep 'Alfre' and from the Julep Trina Turk Collection 'Otte', 'Sophie', 'Gunta, and 'Delaunay'}

{bareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow Duo in 'The Last Call'}

Oh yes! If you win this giveaway, you'll get nine nail polishes and one eyeshadow duo.

To enter, all you need to do is "Like" Sprinkles and Style on Facebook and then leave a comment here letting me know you've done so. A winner will be chosen at random on Sunday, September 30. Good luck!

sprinkles and style turns one!

{Image via Sweetapolita}

I can't believe that one year ago today, I posted my very first entry. Sprinkles and Style has certainly come a long way since then and I'm very proud of what it's become. Considering that this is my third {third!} attempt at a blog, I'm glad that it's grown into a little something in this big world of blogging. I can't wait to see what the next year brings!

And as a big thank you to all of my family, friends, and lovely readers who have encouraged and supported me on this journey so far, I have a pretty cool giveaway {if I do say so myself}. What better way to celebrate one year of blogging than with my very first giveaway? Look out for that post tomorrow to win a few fun goodies!

In the meantime, I think today is a great day to reward yourself with something sweet, whether it be a tasty baked treat or a pretty new bauble. We all deserve it today!

eat this, wear that: harvest pizza

It is officially fall and I could not be happier! I'm ready to embrace the cooler temperatures and fall-themed drinks, decor, and attire. This harvest pizza with sage pesto, butternut squash, and prosciutto seems like the perfect savory dish to describe the season. As Jessica of How Sweet It Is put it, it is a "big plate of autumn".

Translate that to daytime with a comfy and relaxed blouse in a toned-down green shade with a burnt-orange pencil skirt. Add neutral pointy-toe heels and the perfect red bag and you're set for the day, whether it's at the office or out to lunch with friends.

Happy Monday!

friday's fancies: football frenzy

As much as I would have loved to put together and orange and blue outfit for my beloved Syracuse, we're not known to have a great football team. I chose to go with my favorite NFL team, the New England Patrios. Shocked? Most people are since I'm from NJ and most people in this area will say they like NY Giants or the NY Jets. In my house though, we are a family divided since my parents and I like different teams.

While I've never been to a Patriots game {my dad is a BIG TIME Jets fan}, I still like to wear team colors on game days. No matter where I am watching a game, I would love to be sporting a casual and comfy look just like this.

I find it hard to find cute team shirts and sweatshirts that are more flattering for us ladies so I often turn to the Victoria's Secret Pink line. They have some great items for every team with fun cheeky sayings!

Who are you cheering on?

Have a great weekend!

i like your style: camilla belle

Sometimes I get into this rut and I'll have a hard time deciding on what to wear to work or for a night out with friends. Unfortunately for me, it's been happening more often than I'd like lately. I usually turn to my favorite fashion bloggers or pinterest and browse for a bit until outfit inspiration hits me. Other times I'll search images of some of my celebrity fashion icons for more ideas.

Last night, I was looking through pictures of Camilla Belle and was quickly reminded of her great red carpet style. So while these outfits from New York Fashion Week are bit too dressed up for my everyday, I've already started thinking of how to translate these into more casual looks.

I am loving her simple makeup look from the Michael Kors show and her floral dress for the Schutz store opening. So pretty as always.

sweet on: rimmel lipstick by kate moss

I've been searching for long-wearing lipstick for quite some time and think I've finally found it in Rimmel London Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss. There are about 10-15 shades in this range and several should work on several skin tones. There shouldn't be an issue finding a shade or two that works for you!

The packaging is great and very sleek. The formulation is creamy and very pigmented. The claim here is that they'll last eight hours and it falls flat there. I found that it lasted about 4-5 hours on me but did stain my lips a bit which was nice. These are very comfortable to wear and left my lips with a nice satin finish without ever feeling dry or chapped. For around $6 a piece at the drugstore, I think this is a great option if you're looking to add to your makeup collection!

{FROM L TO R: 01, 08, 10, 11}

I decided to swatch these on my arm for you to see how the color really appears. I find that lipstick colors can be so misleading sometimes. I still loved all of these colors even if the shade wasn't exactly what I had expected.

{FROM L TO R: 01, 08, 10, 11 | 01 and 11 aren't as dark as they look in the tube but I really love the brick red color of 01, 08 is a medium rose pink color that is great for everyday and would probably work on several skin tones, 10 is more of a classic red shade that I have yet to try out}

I'm still on the hunt for the perfect wine shade for the fall. If anyone knows of any, high end or drugstore, send suggestions my way!

*Disclaimer: These lipsticks were purchased by me or my wonderful Mom. Thanks Mom!

i found you, miss new bootie

Booties are not a new trend for the fall season, but they're a new love for me. I used to think they looked awful on me until I purchased a pair of Frye's that I love to wear with leggings, jeans, and dresses. After last fall, I am amped to break out some of the booties I currently own {and maybe purchase a few more?...} and style them for the season!

My Frye's and J.Crew wedge boots will be getting a lot of use. I'm also loving the DV by Dolce Vita pair and the bow detail on those Alexander Wangs. What are your favorite?

Check out a few of my other favorite booties and ankle boots on my Currently Obsessed and 'Sprinkles and Style Shops' pages!

eat this, wear that: sesame cupcakes

I haven't done much baking yet in my new apartment, mainly because I didn't have all of my baking supplies yet. Now that the majority has finally been moved, I think it's time for me to whip up a few things. I have a list of recipes that I'm planning on trying out and I'm dying to try out these black sesame cupcakes.

These black sesame cupcakes with a lemon curd filling actually sound quite delicious. Nutty sesame flavors with lemon curd seem like a great pairing. And how could you not love the colors? I love the dark tones and monochromatic look of a black trench, comfortable ballet flats, and a sweet bow-accented handbag. A little peek of yellow warms up this look and a jeweled headband adds just a touch of sparkle.

friday's fancies: fall lust list

The weather in the city this week has been nothing but perfect. It's certainly clear that fall is coming and I couldn't be happier. Cooler temperatures means it's time to break out the riding boots, scarves, sweaters, and jackets. As much as I love the summer and wearing dresses all the time, I'm excited to transition into fall clothing. I have my eye on many things for this upcoming season but narrowed it down to just a few for a fun fall outfit.

I'm looking forward to trying out new color and pattern pairings like an emerald bag and wine-colored sweater with this fun Tory Burch fox-print scarf.

What's on your fall lust list? Check out others on long distance loving!

Have a great weekend!

lace and leather

I purchased my first faux leather clothing item for the fall before the IFB conference last week and I am hooked. While I'd love to own some real leather pieces {not at all in my budget right now}, I do love it for fall. Pair leather pieces with a little bit of lace and you've got an instant put-together outfit that can be worn to the office, brunch with friends, and a night out on the town.

Lace and leather is a combination that I will definitely be sporting this upcoming season. Will you be wearing it?

currently craving

With cooler temperatures and wonderful breezes here in the city, I'm very much ready for fall. Apple dishes, plum and wine colors, and delicious smelling candles for my apartment have been on my mind as of late.

What's on your wish list?

glimpse of my weekend

Or really, just at my Saturday. I went home for the weekend to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and spend some time with my family. We ventured out to the Hamptons on Saturday to attend the bar mitzvah of my dad's friend's son. The weather held up nicely and we were able to get home before the strong storms hit. We ended the day with some ice cream from Applegate Farm, my favorite ice cream place. If you're ever in Montclair, NJ you must stop by!

{Pretty tables}

eat this, wear that: breakfast biscuits

I am the type of person who can eat breakfast for any meal. When I saw these breakfast biscuits on How Sweet It Is, I immediately wanted to try them. Cheddar cheese, bacon, and a poached egg sandwiched in a sweet potato biscuit sounds incredibly delicious and so much like fall. Dress it up with this bright orange pencil skirt, a yellow handbag, a wine colored mani, and these fun and classic buckled pumps.

Happy Monday!

cozy bedroom for the weekend

After the IFB Conference, Lucky FABB and Fashion's Night Out, I am looking forward to sleeping in a bit this weekend. I loved meeting so many bloggers and making new friends, but I am in need of some downtime. I can't wait to just put my feet up, catch up on some of my favorite blogs, and start a new book.

What are your plans for this weekend? Have a great one!

eat this, wear that: green tomato caprese stacks

To me, Labor Day has always signified the end of summer.  And honestly, I can't believe it's already here. I'll be spending my day off in casual clothing and relaxing before three fun-filled days at the IFB Conference and LuckyFABB. I'll also be dreaming of lunching on this green tomato caprese stacks, which I'm imagining is so crunchy, gooey, and delicious. Yummy!
