boot problems

I have a love/hate relationship with boots.

You see, I have wide calves and most boots have a calf circumference of 14 inches or less. That's just not going to cut it for me. I currently own two pairs that have an OK fit, one from Chinese Laundry and another from Steve Madden, but I've always wanted a pair that can be dressed up or down and fit well with jeans, leggings, tights, and knee highs. Problem is, it's really, really hard to find boots that measure 15 inches or more. After over a year of research, I found six that possibly met all my criteria.

My mom and I discussed the pros and cons of all of these. I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Frye 'Veronica Slouch' Boot. They arrived on Monday and I could not be happier with my purchase! I knew the quality would be great since I already own a pair of Frye's and I am so happy with the color and the feel. I can't wait to pair them with jeans and more casual outfits and skirts and tights for a dressier look.

Anyone else have wide calf boot problems?

  1. I have the exact same problem! I am also really tall, so "high" boots are actually mid calf on me!

  2. Ugh I have super big calves and teeny ankles so skinny jeans sometimes look weird on me, but I don't care I wear em anyways! ;)
