friday's fancies: beach ready

Temperatures have been hot, hot, hot lately here in New York City. Sure, there's been a few rain showers {very much needed too!} but the sunny weather has me thinking of heading to the beach as soon as possible. And with July 4th right around the corner, it's the perfect opportunity to go down the shore and spend the day soaking up some sun with a good book and a drink in hand.

Sprinkles and Style || Friday's Fancies: Beach Ready

I'm a one-piece girl myself and love the navy color with gold accents of this Melissa Odabash swimsuit. I've been looking for a few to add to my collection and keep visiting the ASOS website because they just have the best selection. I'm especially loving this belted one-piece, this baroque printed swimsuit, and this one with a pretty floral print and peplum detail.

Any fun summer beach plans coming up for you?

Hope you have a happy and fun weekend!

the switch: google reader to bloglovin'

When Google announced that they would be doing away with Google Reader, I knew that I needed to find a new way to discreetly read my favorite blogs {and there are many of them} during the work day. I tried a few sites but ultimately decided that Bloglovin' is just the way to go.

Well, there are several reasons really. Two of the things that convinced me though are the clean layout {so aesthetically pleasing!} and the ability to easily find new blogs in different categories. And even better, it's got a great app for the iPhone and iPad!

So if you haven't made the switch already, I highly suggest making the move to Bloglovin' and taking the really easy step to importing your Google Reader feed! And while you're at it, make sure to follow Sprinkles and Style!

casual and simple

Sprinkles and Style || Casual and Simple Outfit

Whenever I head home for the weekend, I always try to pack the bare minimum, which usually means that I bring a few casual and simple pieces. I always pack clothes that can be dressed up or down with the addition of accessories I already have at my parent's house. Typically, I'll just add a few things like statement stud earrings or wear a piece in a different way, like this cord necklace I used as a bracelet. This outfit was the perfect basic canvas for these fun pieces from Max & Chloe.

apple and kale green juice

Sprinkles and Style || Apple & Kale Green Juice

I'm not one to talk about health and fitness and healthy eating on my blog often, simply because I try to eat well but just can't resist temptation sometimes. I've done a juice cleanse a few times in the past and have actually enjoyed the taste of what I've had to drink. The problem is, juice cleanses, even if just for three days, can be really expensive. My mom decided to invest in a juicer and experimented with some ingredients for a green juice while I was home over the weekend. The combination she put together was absolutely delicious. It tastes more like apple juice than it does any vegetable in the drink itself. The only reason you would even know you're drinking a green juice is just by the color.

12 baby carrots
1/3 cucumber
1 1/2 lemon {peeled and cut into wedges}
4 small apples, wedged and sliced
2 cups of kale, de-stemmed

1. Wash and prepare all of your ingredients.
2. Add all your ingredients to you juicer.
3. When you're done, give it a quick stir and pour into a container.
4. Drink and ENJOY!

The best part of this recipe is that if you don't have a juicer, you can make this in a blender and either strain it before drinking or drink with all the vegetable and fruit goodness that is there.

Let me know if you end up making this green juice or something similar!

summer nautical

Sprinkles and Style || Summer Nautical Style

One thing I love about summer fashion and style is the abundance of nautical-inspired pieces that pop up everywhere. From clothes to jewelry, handbags to shoes, fun prints that include anchors, regatta flags, and lobsters find their way into stores and onto my summer wishlist. I'm currently loving these items and others like the Essie 'Naughty Nautical' Summer Collection and these Kate Spade stud earrings.

What trends are you loving this summer?

sprinkles, style, and sights: us open at merion

My parents and I drove down to Philadelphia last week to watch the Wednesday practice round and Round One of the US Open. Unfortunately, it rained for most of Thursday morning so we ended up not going to watch golf that day. We've still been following the golf every day since then. Watching the excitement and struggle {who knew that little ol' Merion Golf Club was going to be such a difficult course for these pros?} provided quite some entertainment over all four days. It was an especially great way to spend time with my family on Father's Day.

friday's fancies: summer wedding season

It seems that with summer comes an abundance of wedding talk and weddings in general. I personally won't be attending any this summer but if I were, this look is surely one I'd consider rocking as a wedding guest.

Sprinkles and Style || Wedding Season Outfit

A flowy sheath dress that lends itself well to long hours on the dance floor with simple, neutral makeup, a few silver accessories {love that cocktail ring and it's on sale!}, and some dancing shoes - how can you possibly go wrong?

Have a happy weekend!

what to wear: us open golf

Sprinkles and Style || What to Wear: US Open Golf

My parents and I traveled to Pennsylvania yesterday for the US Open at Merion Golf Club. The weather forecast is great for today's practice round - sunny skies and warm temperatures. I would love to be wearing a pretty outfit like this while walking around the course today, but I'm actually wearing printed khaki shorts and rain boots {the course is so muddy this week!} that are a much more practical for all the walking we'll be doing.

Hopefully the weather holds up for tomorrow! Though I don't think it will...

eat this, wear that: neon pink snoball cake

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Neon Pink Snoball Cake
To be honest, I've never had a snoball or a snoball cake, but the flavors of chocolate, marshmallow frosting, and coconut sound quite tasty to me. I love the contrast of the bright neon pink against the always classic black and white. And when I found this J. Crew dress, I knew I had found the perfect match for this snoball cake. With a few vivid hot pink accessories and some gold touches, and youv'e got yourself a summer ready outfit.
Happy Monday!

friday's fancies: serious sunnies

This Friday's Fancies post is going up a day late, but it's better late than never, right?

Sprinkles and Style || Friday's Fancies: Serious Sunnies
Getting myself a new pair of sunglasses has been on my mind for awhile, but I just can't seem to decide on a pair that I really like. I'm constantly browsing selections online and trying them on in stores and have yet to finally bring a new pair home with me. With so many styles out there, it's so hard to determine a pair that I won't get tired of and will want to wear often. But I am loving these five pairs, especially the Diors and Ray-Ban Clubmasters.

Which would you choose?

Hope you have a great weekend!

on par with kate spade

If there's one thing I look forward to at the beginning of each month, it's Kate Spade's announcement of things they love. New prints, new accessories, new everything! June was inspired by Palm Springs, and new arrivals came in the pretty pastels, tropical floral prints, and sweet scalloped edges. But what do I love most? All of the golf inspired accessories that are sure to have you looking chic on the course.

Sprinkles and Style || On Par with Kate Spade

The U.S. Open is next week and I'm pretty sure these are just absolutely perfect for the occasion! I'm also loving this pendant, this coin purse, and this incredibly cute hat. This golf collection is a definite hole-in-one. {Sorry, I just couldn't resist!}

What are some of your favorite new arrivals from Kate Spade?

make your makeup last

It wasn't until recently that I finally decided enough was enough and I needed to find a way to make my makeup last the entire day. No fading, minimal touch ups. I wanted my makeup to last a full work day and then some. And I've found the product to do just the trick.

Sprinkles and Style || Avoid A Summer Makeup Meltdown
Urban Decay's All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray || Chill Makeup Setting Spray || De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray

I used to think that makeup setting spray was just a gimmick despite all of the good reviews. I decided to find out what all the hype was about and let me tell you - the hype is completely deserved. I currently use Urban Decay's Chill Makeup Setting Spray, but there are others out there, every morning at the end of my makeup routine to help it last all day. Just four quick spritzes and your mascara, powder, blush - really anything - will look just as good at happy hour with your friends as it did as 8 AM for the office.

I highly recommend giving this a try! I think it's a great investment and addition to any makeup routine, especially for the summer!

Edit: Because this was brought up, I have super sensitive skin. I also have eczema and typically experience break outs of that on my face. Using this hasn't been a problem for me though!

Note: I am not sponsored by Urban Decay. I just really love this product. And lots of their other products.
