what to wear: golf tournament

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, my parents and I hopped on a plane and took a quick trip to Boston to watch some golf this weekend. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I've watched a pretty decent amount of golf tournaments this month. And it's safe to say that I've seen some smart and some really ridiculous outfits on the course. So I thought I would share with you an outfit that I think would be acceptable for a day of following around your favorite golfers.

Sprinkles and Style || What to Wear: Golf Tournament

To me, this outfit is more practical than to what I've posted in the past. So here are a few tips from me to you!...

1. Wear smart and comfortable shoes. If you're know you're going to be walking a few holes, don't wear flip flops. Or heels. Or wedges. Or wedge sneakers. Leave those all at home and put on some trusty and comfortable sneakers. You can find lots of cute and colorful ones now-a-days!

2. Bring a sweater. My family and I get up super early to head to the course because my dad likes to be out there when the crowds aren't so huge. Early mornings are chilly mornings. Bring a cardigan to wear in the morning and in the afternoon, you can use it under you bum to sit on and avoid those grass stains!

3. A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are necessities. Being outside in the sunshine is great! But trust me, you'll want all three for protection against that hot sun. No one wants a sunburn! So practice safe sun and slather on some SPF.

4. If you bring a handbag, pack lightly. Most tournaments will have restrictions as to what size handbag you can bring. I always take a crossbody bag but rarely pack much in it. Some chapstick, hand lotion, my phone, and my card case are usually all that goes in it.

5. No need to wear your usual golf attire when you're just a spectator. I typically don't wear polos or my golf shoes when I'm just a spectator at a tournament. Instead, I wear colorful or printed shorts or pants with a plain tee or a fun button up. Wearing a dress or a skirt will take a little bit of maneuvering when trying to sit down but it's doable. Trust me, you can still look cute and presentable without having to look like you're going out for a round of 18 yourself.

Hope these tips were helpful for any golfers or golf spectators!

Happy Friday! Have a great and fun long weekend!
