blue suede shoes

When I first saw these shoes on Sole Society last year, I knew I wanted them in my shoe collection immediately. There is nothing not to love about the Elisa - a lady-like silhouette, a comfortable heel, a cool color, and a pretty bow. I snatched them up and was so glad I did because they sold out quickly.

But now they're back! I'm already thinking that I need to get another pair in black suede because I'm envisioning so many holiday outfits {too soon?} with them.

So grab these beauties before they're gone! And maybe add these Frieda oxfords, these ruby bow slingbacks, or the Camille satchel while you're at it.

mary kay starlet on-the-go

You may have noticed a little circular button that I have in my sidebar that states that I'm a Influenster member. Influenster is a great {free!} program that you can sign up for online, answer a few surveys, and a earn badges to be eligible for some exclusive discounts and products. You're not always guaranteed an Influenster box for every program, but it's so fun and exciting when you get the email saying that you are!

The latest one I received is the Mary Kay Influenster Starlet On-The-Go Kit. As a makeup junkie, you can imagine how excited I was to get some full size products from a brand that I hadn't tried yet.

Sprinkles and Style || Mary Kay Influenster Starlet On-the-Go Kit

Sprinkles and Style || Mary Kay Lash Love Lengthening Mascara and Lash Primer
Lash Love Lengthening Mascara in I Black, $15 || This picture doesn't really show the shape of the brush, but if you're familiar with Covergirl's Clump Crusher mascara then you know what it looks like. I've actually tried the Covergirl formula and didn't like it. And sadly, the same goes for this one. I got similar results with both - they turned my just curled lashes completely straight.

Lash Primer, $15 || I've never used a lash primer before so I don't have anything to compare this too. It worked just fine with my other mascaras, which are all waterproof. I liked it well enough that I'll continue to use it until it runs out.

Sprinkles and Style || Mary Kay True Dimensions Lip Stick
True Dimensions Lip Stick in Pink Cherie, $18 || This lipstick has some great packaging, and I am sucker for packaging. To open it, you just had to press down on the clear top and the tube came out of the bottom. This lipstick is moisturizing and really comfortable to wear on your lips. I never felt like I needed to apply lip balm. It lasted for maybe 3 - 4 hours on me {including eating lunch and drinking multiple glasses of water}. The color, I felt, didn't really suit my skin tone and seemed to turn to more of a pale pink as time wore on.

Sprinkles and Style || Mary Kay Cream Eye Color
Cream Eye Color in Violet Storm, $22 || I saved the best for last! This is a great cream eye shadow and came in a color that complimented my brown eyes. It was wearable with a light sweep all over the eyelid during the daytime and could be smoked out with another shadow or darkened for night. It is something I would consider repurchasing!

Also included in the box was a cream eye color/concealer brush. I haven't used it so I can't give a review on it, but it did seem to be a good brush!

Have you tried any Mary Kay products that you would recommend trying?

eat this, wear that: grilled peach salad

I find that during the summer, all I crave are salads. Fruit salads, caesar salads, cobb salads - you name it, I most likely want it. When I stumbled upon this grilled peach salad with mint pesto, I couldn't help but think it is a perfect summer dish.

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Grilled Peach Salad and Mint Pesto, Alice by Temperley Kyoto Dress, Steven Aftrdrk, BaubleBar Ivory Bangle, New Look Envelope Clutch, Toywatch Plasteramic Watch, H&M Cardigan

Sweet peaches, peppery arugula, creamy mozzarella, and a herb-y pesto - a very light salad and just right for a summer day. Something light pairs well with something ladylike, which is exactly what I think of when I see this Alice by Temperley dress. Plenty of pretty pleats with a bright yellow cardigan and neutral accessories makes for an office appropriate outfit and works just as well for a night out with girlfriends.

Happy Monday!

PS. I'm taking requests for Eat This, Wear That! Send me some of your favorite dishes and I'll do my best to match an outfit!

happy weekend

After a stint in the ER on Wednesday, I'm taking this weekend to recuperate and relax. I have nothing on my schedule besides reading, watching some movies, and probably a little grocery shopping. I'm hoping that a weekend-in will be just the thing I need.

beauty budget: sigma beauty

I first discovered Sigma Beauty while I was in college, trying to teach myself how to apply makeup after going four makeup-less years at an all-girl school. Their brushes fit my budget and were touted to be of high quality. I knew I had to check it out for myself. And I was certainly not disappointed. Their brushes are so soft, not scratchy or rough on your face, and never shed. I have quite the collection of Sigma brushes and wanted to share my favorites with you.

Sprinkles and Style || Beauty Budget: Sigma Beauty - Mr. Bunny Kit
Essential Mr. Bunny Kit, $120 || Every brush in this kit is soft {most likely from the synthetic bristles} and makes applying your makeup a breeze! It also comes in a handy container that turns into two brush containers and is perfect for traveling.

Sprinkles and Style || Beauty Budget: Sigma Beauty - F80 Flat Kabuki
F80 Flat Kabuki Brush, $18 || This brush is also made with synthetic bristles and is dense but still soft. It's perfect for applying any type of liquid face product like tinted moisturizer, foundation, BB creams, etc.

Sprinkles and Style || Beauty Budget: Sigma Beauty - P86 Precision Tapered
P86 Precision Tapered Brush, $16 || Again, made with synthetic bristles {all of their Sigmax brushes are great}. I use this brush to blend in my under eye concealer because it's soft enough to use in that area and fits perfectly.

Sprinkles and Style || Beauty Budget: Sigma Beauty - E50 Large Fluff
E50 Large Fluff Brush, $12 || I use this brush to apply highlighter on my cheeks or on my brow bone. Sometimes I also use this to sweep one eyeshadow color over my eyelids.

Sprinkles and Style || Beauty Budget: Sigma Beauty - L05 Lip
L05 Lip Brush, $10 || I don't use a lip brush every time I apply lipstick, but I do find that it's much easier to get a precise and clean line with one, especially when I'm wearing a red or darker shade. This is great because you can actually separate the brush to close it and take it with you in your bag for touch ups.

You may have noticed that there is a 10% off discount code in the sidebar for these brushes. But there's an even better deal going on until midnight {12AM CST}, Monday, July 29. With the coupon code SBAP20, you can get 20% off your entire purchase. And if you spend $30 or more, you get a free gift!

Budget friendly, discounts, and a free gift? What's not to love?
If you have a favorite beauty or makeup brand that I should check out, let me know! I always love hearing and trying out new products.
Happy shopping!

the lone bellow and a trip to brooklyn

If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I took my first ever trip to Brooklyn over the weekend. A friend of mine asked me to go to one of the Celebrate Brooklyn! concerts and I thought it was a great opportunity to finally the neighborhood. The trip took about an hour {we live on the Upper West Side} but it was worth it.

Sprinkles and Style || The Lone Bellow and a Trip to Brooklyn

If you live in the city, I highly recommend going to one of the Celebrate Brooklyn! shows in Prospect Park. There's great food and a few goodies from some Etsy shops, including ponchos which were needed. But despite a few rain showers, the music and atmosphere was great! We were there to see The Lone Bellow, a folk/alternative group from Brooklyn that had great energy and even better music. If you haven't heard of them or listened to any of their music, I highly suggest doing so! Their songs are catchy and really full of emotion. It's hard not to get hooked.

Have a listen and happy Monday!

friday's fancies: sandal savvy

Ever since I bought my first pair of J. Crew shoes, I've been obsessed with the amazing quality and style of any pair that shows in stores and online. Their sandals, flat or otherwise, are no different. They're not only some of the prettiest and classiest sandals out there, but the quality and feel is absolutely amazing and comfortable. You can bet that any time I stop in their Columbus Circle store I try on a pair.

Sprinkles and Style || Friday's Fancies: J. Crew Sandal Savvy, J. Crew Collection Pave Chain Link, J. Crew Marina Mini-wedge Espadrilles, J. Crew Lillian Patent Low Wedges

I can't even choose a favorite here because I love all three pairs. They'd be perfect for spring, summer, and even early fall. Strolling around town? Out to brunch? Dinner date? Vacation? Weekend getaway? Pretty sure these three are perfect for any occasion! Where would you wear these?

Check out other sandal favorites over on long distance loving for this week's Friday's Fancies!

Hope you all have a great Friday and happy weekend!

eat this, wear that: grilled pineapple and coconut sorbet

When I put together an Eat This, Wear That post, I always, always, always pick the dish first. This week I strayed away from the norm because of a pineapple skirt. I saw it when I took a detour to the J. Crew store on the way home from work last week and knew I wanted to work it into a post somehow. And what do you know? This series was the perfect way to do just that.

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Grilled Pineapple and Coconut Sorbet, J. Crew Pineapple, RAEN Sunglasses, Michael Kors Link Watch, H&M Blouse, Steve Madden Realove, Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick Posy Pink, Serpui Marie Pic Nic Wicker Minaudiere, Jules Smith Bangles

How delicious does that dish of sorbet and grilled pineapple look? And I can't get over how cute this skirt is! I love the summer-y and tropical print against a navy background; I think it makes it easy to pair with so many colors. When I saw it in stores, I envisioned an outfit just like this - a sleeveless buttoned blouse tucked into this fun skirt with nude sandals, a rosy pink lip, and minimal accessories. I'm kind of regretting not snatching it up for myself...

What would you pair this pineapple printed skirt with?

summer shorts

NYC is in the middle of a heat wave right now. As much as I hate to complain, it is just unbearably hot outside. I love summer, but I find that whenever it's this hot, I always have trouble trying to decide what to wear. Typically, I grab a dress or skirt from my closet because it's just so easy to wear a breezy and simple silhouette on hot days. Lately though, I've found myself wanting to reach for shorts. Denim, printed, colored - they've all been in rotation!

Sprinkles and Style || Summer Shorts, J. Crew Chino Shorts, Maje Scalloped, H&M Denim Shorts, J. Crew Bella Metallic Tweed, Nina Ricci Floral, Splendid Gingham Shorts, Mango Linen Shorts, Joe Fresh Crochet Shorts

Any of these would be great picks to wear this season. I'm especially loving the scalloped pair and pretty {and affordable!} embellished ones from H&M. And you can never go wrong with any of the J. Crew chino shorts - a staple in my closet.

What bottoms do you reach for on hot summer days?

a glamorous home

One of my favorite blogs that I visit daily is This is Glamorous. Roséline has filled her blog to the brim with pictures of all things girly, feminine, and utterly glamorous. Whenever I read a post, I immediately want to go out a buy a fresh bouquet of flowers or pack my things and take a trip or cook up a restaurant-worthy recipe.

When her home in Edinburgh, Scotland was featured on Design*Sponge, I was not surprised at all to see that it was just as beautiful as the images on her blog. Every room from the kitchen to the office to the living room to the bedroom is perfectly styled and decorated with such charm and romance. It's hard not to love.

friday's fancies: tanked

A tank top is a summer essential. When the temperatures are just too high and you can't decide what to wear, a tank top is a great go-to. Just throw one on, simple or embellished, with a pair of shorts or a pretty skirt and you are good to go!
Sprinkles and Style || Friday's Fancies: Tanked, J. Crew Double Crepe Skirt, Kate Spade Gramercy Watch, K.slademade Floral, Burberry Sunglasses, Splendid Vintage Whisper, Sole Society Gianna Cutout Sandals, Adia Kabur Bracelet, BaubleBar Iced Lariat Necklace

Tucked in, this Splendid tank goes so well with this pretty and bright J. Crew skirt {which I just bought in navy and on sale in stores!} I couldn't help but add in the lariat necklace from BaubleBar because I've had my eye on it since it was released. And it, plus a feminine floral clutch, adds a little something-something to the outfit. Don't you think?

Happy weekend!

going g-free

Sprinkles and Style || Going Gluten Free - Blackberry Picnic Pies

Don't these blackberry picnic pies look delicious? I don't even like blackberries but this picture has me wishing I could just grab one through my computer screen. And the best part? They're gluten-free!

I don't typically talk about health and fitness here on the blog because honestly, I'm not the healthiest or fittest person out there. And now that's come back to bite me in the you-know-what. This year, I've been having more health and stomach issues than ever. Pains and aches that I've never experienced before started happening more often than my parents and I wanted. After a hospital visit, multiple doctor's appointments, and a prescription that I keep handy at all times, it was decided that going gluten-free might just help out a little bit - or maybe a lot!

I'm hoping that this {plus an overall healthier diet and exercise} will do the trick and kick whatever this is to the curb, but I need some help. If you know of any gluten-free blogs, send them my way! A gluten-free cookbook? A great gluten-free restaurant in NYC? The best gluten-free brand? I want to know!

Any information you have would be helpful and most appreciated friends so thanks so much in advance!

eat this, wear that: watermelon granita

The weather over Fourth of July weekend was absolutely beautiful but incredibly hot. Even worse, the air conditioning system at my parent's house was broken so the house was like a sauna. The only way to cool down was to leave and find it elsewhere, preferably with a cool drink or treat in hand. I'm positive that with all the watermelon we had on hand, a watermelon granita would have been that perfect something...

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Watermelon Granita

Watermelon is such a refreshing fruit on a hot day and this granita is no different. The colors are so basic but perfect for summer. I love the vibrant pink dress paired with just a few sparkly bracelets, simple flats, and a summery pastel green bag for a day at the office or just a casual day around town.

Hope you had a fun Fourth and have a happy Monday!

inspired by: summertime desserts

Though its rained and the sky has been more cloudy than clear lately, summer temperatures are definitely here. Not to mention, it's incredibly muggy. After walking around and waiting for the subway, sometimes all I really want is a cold scoop {or maybe two} of ice cream. I've been craving more fruity flavors lately and love how they remind me so much of pretty summertime colors.

Sprinkles and Style || Summertime Nails and Ice Cream Desserts

I can't even pick a favorite here. They all sound and look too good. And the nail polish? Don't even get me started on how pretty I think the Deborah Lippmann colors are!

What's your favorite ice cream flavor to cool off with in the summer?

eat this, wear that: ombré red, white, and blue cake

Happy July! Can you believe it's already here? Time is seriously flying! The Fourth of July is just three days away and I've been thinking a lot about what to bake this year. This ombré cake, which seems to be quite popular, may just be my contribution to the table.

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Red, White and Blue Ombré Cake

This cake is just too pretty for words! And the color palette lends itself perfectly for a simple outfit in differing shades of red and blue. White jeans worn with bright and bold colors is a look that you can dress up or down for any barbecue or get together that you may find yourself at on Thursday.

Happy Monday!
