labor day sales

Sprinkles and Style || Labor Day Sales

Since I'm away for most of the weekend, I won't be able to do much shopping in stores. Luckily for us, there are lots of Labor Day online sales this weekend, which means that we can do lots of shopping with a drink of choice on your right and your wallet to your left. Here are some of my favorite sites that I will definitely be browsing...

I'm on the lookout for a new work bag and with the Bloomingdale's Big Brown Bag Sale, I think this will the my stop for a pretty one to carry around. I have my eye on this Kate Spade scalloped satchel in Midnight and this light grey colorblock satchel from Coach. Another thing I'm loving - these classic red Salvatore Ferragamo Varina flats.

You can take 30% final sale items at J. Crew {online with the code HELLO30, plus free shipping on orders $100 or more}. I would grab another pair of the Minnie pant, this peplum top, this fit-and-flare knit dress, and this glimmer tweed mini.

At Tory Burch, you can take up to 30% off with the code LABORDAY. I am in love with her pretty printed cosmetic cases so those would be at the top of my list, specifically this leopard and stripe Brigitte case. Other favorites include the Caroline Ballet Flat and this black leather clutch/crossbody bag.

Nordstrom has added lots of new items to their sale so now is a great time to purchase some fall clothing items. I always want to buy new boots and I think this pair from Michael Kors would be a nice addition to my shoe closet. This Via Spiga hooded coat and this Calvin Klein moto jacket would be great for cold fall weather.

It's hard to resist these Labor Day sales isn't it? Obviously I won't be buying all of this but maybe some of these will find their way into my hands.

Have a great weekend! Happy shopping!

what to wear: golf tournament

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, my parents and I hopped on a plane and took a quick trip to Boston to watch some golf this weekend. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that I've watched a pretty decent amount of golf tournaments this month. And it's safe to say that I've seen some smart and some really ridiculous outfits on the course. So I thought I would share with you an outfit that I think would be acceptable for a day of following around your favorite golfers.

Sprinkles and Style || What to Wear: Golf Tournament

To me, this outfit is more practical than to what I've posted in the past. So here are a few tips from me to you!...

1. Wear smart and comfortable shoes. If you're know you're going to be walking a few holes, don't wear flip flops. Or heels. Or wedges. Or wedge sneakers. Leave those all at home and put on some trusty and comfortable sneakers. You can find lots of cute and colorful ones now-a-days!

2. Bring a sweater. My family and I get up super early to head to the course because my dad likes to be out there when the crowds aren't so huge. Early mornings are chilly mornings. Bring a cardigan to wear in the morning and in the afternoon, you can use it under you bum to sit on and avoid those grass stains!

3. A hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen are necessities. Being outside in the sunshine is great! But trust me, you'll want all three for protection against that hot sun. No one wants a sunburn! So practice safe sun and slather on some SPF.

4. If you bring a handbag, pack lightly. Most tournaments will have restrictions as to what size handbag you can bring. I always take a crossbody bag but rarely pack much in it. Some chapstick, hand lotion, my phone, and my card case are usually all that goes in it.

5. No need to wear your usual golf attire when you're just a spectator. I typically don't wear polos or my golf shoes when I'm just a spectator at a tournament. Instead, I wear colorful or printed shorts or pants with a plain tee or a fun button up. Wearing a dress or a skirt will take a little bit of maneuvering when trying to sit down but it's doable. Trust me, you can still look cute and presentable without having to look like you're going out for a round of 18 yourself.

Hope these tips were helpful for any golfers or golf spectators!

Happy Friday! Have a great and fun long weekend!

off to boston

Sprinkles and Style || Off to Boston!

I'm traveling again this weekend, and this time I'm off to Boston! I haven't been there since high school so I am very excited to be spending a few days in this wonderful city. My parents and I will be watching the golf {seriously, all I've done this month is watch golf} so we may not explore too much but it will be fun nonetheless!

Hope you have a great weekend!

youtube favorite: byron talbott

When it comes to cooking and baking, I'm more of a visual learner. I like to be able to see what the steps look like instead of just the end product. So while I love cookbooks, YouTube has become one of my favorite go-to resources for new recipes.

A few months ago I stumbled upon Byron Talbott after watching his wife's makeup tutorials. He's a professionally trained chef who's worked with the likes of Gordon Ramsay, so you know that his recipes and videos are going to be professional and really tasty. If you're looking for some cooking techniques and new dishes to try out, check out Byron's YouTube channel. You won't be disappointed!

Make sure you head over to Byron's YouTube channel! And while you're at it, visit his wife's beauty channel too. If you have any food or cooking favorites on YouTube, let me know! I'm always looking for recommendations!

eat this, wear that: PB and J cupcakes with peanut butter chocolate ganache

If you couldn't tell from my Instagram, I spent my weekend watching The Barclays at the Liberty National Golf Course. While there, I had something twice I hadn't eaten in a really long time - a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Let me tell you, it was just as delicious as I remember, and it has started some serious peanut butter and jelly cravings.

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Chocolate Ganache

Peanut butter and raspberry jam cupcakes topped off with a peanut butter chocolate ganache? I don't think you can possibly go wrong there. And a raspberry red embroidered dress pairs perfectly with different shades of a neutral brown that you are sure to already have in your closet.

Happy Monday!

friday's fancies: back to school

If there is one thing that I miss about this time of year, it's back to school shopping. I loved buying a first day outfit {or maybe first week outfits...} and new school supplies. While I'm not in school anymore, this little ensemble would be something I'd definitely consider wearing...

I think this would be a great outfit to go from the classroom to hanging out with your friends on the quad - really simple but still fun with a printed skirt and wedge sandals.

To all of you going back to school, good luck and have fun! It's around this time of year that I really miss my college days.

the white sneaker

Last weekend, I came to the realization {after walking 60 blocks} that my Jack Purcells were a size too small. With the exception of my running shoes, I've found myself sneaker-less. A predicament in my book.

White canvas sneakers are now at the top of my wish list, but I just can't seem to choose which one!

Others that I'm considering - my third pair of Jack Purcells, these Supergas, or maybe this pair from Reebok. I don't like when sneakers are too heavy so I'll most likely need to actually go and try these on in stores.

But I want to know - what's your pick? Help me decide!

A seriously good empowering and 'feel-good' song to add a little happiness and motivation to your Wednesday.

brand spotlight: wildfox

Wildfox wasn't a brand that I gravitated towards immediately, thinking it wasn't really "my style". Recently I've been browsing through their clothes and realized how cute, cheeky, and fun everything is! There are certainly a few things on my wish list that may find their way into my closet.

Have you purchased anything Wildfox? What would you add to your closet?

Take a look at what else I have my eye on!

eat this, wear that: blueberry braided bread

Last week's weather had me wishing for autumn. I know that summer isn't over, but I enjoy the cooler temperatures over hot and muggy days. The outfit I put together inspired by this summer fruit would be great for the early days of fall.

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Blueberry Braided Bread, Acne Skirt, J.Crew Crepe Tank, Pour la Victoire Wedges, H&M Bag, Buxom Lipstick, ABS Allen Schwartz Earrings, Burberry Tank, Zara Pearl Necklace, Deborah Lippmann Nail Polish

I've been on a big blueberry kick lately and this blueberry braid bread {doesn't it sound and look delicious?} instantly caught my eye. I thought navy and burgundy would be a great color match and put together this outfit with the early days of cool weather in mind. A simple white crepe tank tucked into a navy skirt and worn with black suede wedge pumps is also office appropriate. Simple rosy lips, shimmery nails, a cluster pearl necklace, and a burgundy bag big enough to fit all the essentials plus a change of shoes are the perfect accessories. And of course, you can't forget to bring a coat for when the temperatures start to drop just a little bit.

Happy Monday!

friday's fancies: around town

Let's be real.

When the weekend rolls around and there's nothing on my schedule except for walking around the city, running errands, or picking up groceries, you can catch me in a really simple outfit. That usually means a comfy tee, a pair of shorts in the summer, and flats or sneakers that I know won't kill my feet.

Sprinkles and Style || Friday's Fancies: Around Town

This is pretty much exactly what you will find me wearing on the weekends or on a lazy day. I like adding one fun accessory like these Vans sneakers to make this simple outfit a bit more interesting. And for makeup, I like a no-fuss look - a dark brown eyeshadow as eyeliner {a really great trick!}, concealer {for under eye and to brighten up your face}, a few coats of mascara, and a swipe of lip stain.

Head over to long distance loving to see more "errand chic" outfits!

Happy weekend!

the mini mac

Rebecca Minkoff's Mini MAC bag is not new to the scene. I've had my eye on this leather RM bag for quite some time now but have yet to pull the trigger. I do really like the look of the metal and gold feet and hardware against the leather. And the size of the Mini MAC seems to be right up my alley and perfect for the essentials. I also really like that is can double as clutch, though I'm positive I would only use it as a shoulder or crossbody bag.

There's no doubt that I've given this bag much thought, but I still can't seem to make up my mind on this classic leather beauty.

What is your opinion on this bag? Do you love it or hate it? What color would you choose? Should I bite the bullet and finally make this purchase?

sprinkles, style, and sights: pga championship

If you follow me on Instagram, then you already know that I spent a few days in Rochester with my parents watching the PGA Championship. We walked the course and followed a few golfers on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Although we didn't stick around to see Jason Dufner win the Wanamaker trophy on Sunday afternoon, it was still a fun {and tiring} time walking 18 holes and seeing some of my favorite golfers.

drink this, wear that: agave arnold palmer

I took Eat This, Wear That this week in a direction and chose a drink instead of a dish. Since my parents and I are in Rochester for the PGA Tournament, an iced cold Arnold Palmer sweetened with agave seems like the best drink for a walk on the course.

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Agave Arnold Palmer, J.Crew Flare Mini, Superga Cotu, Cambridge Satchel Pastel, Ray-ban Large Original Aviators, Alice+Olivia Roaming Tiger

Arnold Palmers are one of my favorite drinks, especially during the summer. For a day of lots of walking around the golf course, I always like to keep it simple and light. A simple white cotton tee, a neutral mini, comfortable sneakers, with minimal accessories is the way to go. Add a hat, some classic sunglasses, and, of course, the SPF and you would be set for an early day to walk 18 holes. And hopefully catch some of favorite golfers too!

Happy Wednesday!

youtube favorite: vivianna does makeup

I've noticed lately that many bloggers have taken to sharing some of their favorite Instagram accounts. While I love Instagram, I may love YouTube a little bit more. I learned how to apply makeup because of it {seriously, not even close to being a joke} and now have a few favorite YouTube makeup gurus that I always go to.

Whether it's for new product recommendations, makeup tutorials, or shopping hauls, Anna of Vivianna Does Makeup is one of my all-time favorites. I love the calm nature of all of her videos and her quick and easy tutorials. Her accompanying blog is great too and includes things she doesn't always talk about on her channel. Although she is from London and not all of her recommendations are available here in the states, I still always take notes on what products she loves. She does her research before purchasing, which is something I like to do as well, so I know that what she uses are things she loves.

I picked out a few favorite videos but really suggest visiting her YouTube channel and watching more yourself!
