drink this, wear that: hot chocolate with marshmallows

Waking up early on Christmas morning and opening presents with my family is probably one of the best parts and memories I have of this holiday. I'm thinking that good hot mug of decadent hot chocolate would be a great addition to our ritual.

Sprinkles and Style || Drink This, Wear That: Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows

I'm all about wearing comfortable pajamas on Christmas morning and sitting around the tree while opening presents. I love that this outfit is subtly festive with a bright pop of red against the crisp white. Comfy slippers, glasses {I own the Bensen's in Greystone!}, lip balm, and that cup of hot chocolate {or coffee or tea!} are also holiday morning necessities.

Happy Monday!

one dress, two ways for new year's eve

Christmas is quickly approaching, which means that New Year's Eve is also right around the corner. I've already got my outfits planned for Christmas Eve and Christmas day but currently don't have anything in mind for New Year's festivities. I started perusing the internet and came up with this little bit of outfit inspiration.

Sprinkles and Style || One Dress, Two Ways for New Year's Eve

I absolutely love this Maje dress and would happily wear it with either set of accessories. I can't really choose between the two sets of accessories to pair with this dress, but that adds to the appeal! It'd be so easy to mix and match here for another look.

Have you picked out your outfits for the upcoming holidays?

Hope you have a great weekend!

graham cracker, cranberry, & pistachio toffee brickle

Sprinkles and Style || Graham Cracker, Cranberry, & Pistachio Toffee Brickle

Have you noticed that I've posted more recipes than usual? The holidays up the baking bug in me, and I just wanted to share some of the recipes that I love with you. Like Tuesday's recipe, this one is pretty easy but will take some time to set. So while you will have to wait a bit to break into this, you will absolutely love it once you do!

Graham Cracker, Cranberry, and Pistachio Toffee Brickle

Ingredients:
About 17 graham crackers
2 sticks unsalted butter, cubed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup dried cranberries {I used just a little bit more than a half cup}
1/2 cup roasted and unsalted pistachios {Again, used a bit more than a half cup}
3 good pinches of fleur de sel

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with foil and cover that with parchment paper.
2. Completely cover your baking sheet with graham crackers. If you need to, break them into smaller pieces to cover the full sheet.
3. In a pan, melt the butter and sugars together. Stir occasionally until the butter is melted and the mixture has come to a boil. Once this is boiling, continue stirring constantly until this has thickened {about three minutes}.
4. Pour this mixture over the graham crackers and spread to coat. Place this in the oven and bake for 12 minutes.
5. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the bubbling caramel and graham crackers with chocolate chips. Let this sit for 5 minutes and then spread with a spatula {I used an offset spatula} to cover the caramel.
6. Sprinkle the cranberries, pistachios, and fleur de sel evenly on top. Let this cool and set at room temperature. Or place in the fridge to set.
7. Once the toffee brickle has completely set, break into smaller pieces and... ENJOY!

I recommend storing this in an airtight container in between layers of wax paper.

The best thing about this recipe is that you can really top this with any combination you'd like - pretzels, almonds, potato chips, coconut flakes... It's really all up to you!

peppermint and oreo bark

Sprinkles and Style || Peppermint and Oreo Bark

Another holiday recipe today! This one doesn't actually require any baking but it does take some willpower and patience. This chocolate bark is probably one of my favorite things to make each Christmas season. I added some fun winter Oreos to it this year and am convinced they are must-have addition to this recipe. Don't skip out on this, you'll be sorry!

Peppermint and Oreo Chocolate Bark

Ingredients:
10 - 12 Oreos, chopped {whatever kind you like!}
5 candy canes, crushed/chopped into bite-size pieces
1 1/4 cups of semisweet chocolate
1 3/4 cups of white chocolate

1. Line a baking pan with wax paper.
2. Chop the Oreos and candy canes into smaller pieces. No need to be precise here! Just crush away!
3. In a double boiler or microwave, melt the semisweet chocolate {I melted mine in the microwave in 30-second increments, stirring after each} until smooth. Pour onto your baking pan and spread evenly. Sprinkle with the chopped Oreos. Place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
4. Melt the white chocolate until smooth. Pour this over the Oreos and chocolate and spread as evenly as possible. Don't worry if they start to swirl together! Sprinkle with candy canes.
5. Place this in the refrigerator to chill and set. I left mine overnight.
6. Once the bark has set, take a knife and start cutting/breaking away pieces.
7. ENJOY!

chocolate chip pecan pie cookies

Sprinkles and Style || Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie Cookies

When I was in Atlanta earlier this year, I had the most delicious chocolate pecan pie at South City Kitchen {if you're ever there, it's a must try!} It was honestly one of the best desserts I've ever had in my 24 years. Since then, I've wanted to try and duplicate the tasty treat - from the crisp crust to the sweet and nutty filling. I decided to turn it into a cookie and was not disappointed at all. If you're looking for a new holiday cookie to try out, this is it!

Chocolate Chip Pecan Pie Cookies
{adapted from Land O'Lakes}

Ingredients:

For the cookie dough:
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup unsalted butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla

For the filling:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup half & half
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup milk chocolate chips

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
3. In a bowl of a stand mixer, beat together the brown sugar and butter on medium speed until fluffy. Then, add in the egg and vanilla and beat until smooth. Scrape down the sides to make sure everything is combined.
4. Add the dry ingredients in three-four additions, making sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl in between each to make sure all ingredients are incorporated.
5. Shape the dough into 1 1/4 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Make an indentation in each cookie to form a rounded well. I used the back of a measuring spoon {a teaspoon to be exact}. To prevent the dough from spreading too much while baking, place the baking sheet in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
6.  To make the filling, mix together the brown sugar, half and half, and vanilla in a bowl. Fold in the pecans and chocolate chips.
7. Take the cookies out of the fridge and fill each well/indentation with a heaping teaspoon of the filling.
8. Bake for 8-12 minutes until golden brown. Let these cool for 2-3 minutes before removing and placing on a cooling rack.
9. ENJOY!

holiday party: three looks

With the number of holiday parties and get-togethers you have to attend during this time of the year, picking out an outfit can be difficult. I put together a few looks for different occasions - from work to a casual dinner with friends to a festive holiday party- to get you through the season!

Sprinkles and Style || Holiday Party Looks: For Work

Sprinkles and Style || Holiday Party Looks: Casual Sparkle

Sprinkles and Style || Holiday Party Looks: Fun and Festive

I can't pick a favorite here, but I do love that River Island skirt! And I'm almost positive I will be wearing a black dress with my Target bow sweater to my holiday work party. I paired all three with the same makeup and bag because I think that it's great to have a few go-to items during this hectic time of the the year. And if you're looking for another holiday makeup look, make sure to watch this video for a pretty gold and glamorous option.

What's your go-to holiday party outfit?

cinnamon sugar pie crust cookies

Sprinkles and Style || Cinnamon Sugar Pie Crust Cookies

When I made cherry pie for Thanksgiving, I was left with some leftover pie dough. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it and made an extra batch of these the day after to share with my family. This recipe is so simple, so easy, and so quick that it will become your go-to holiday snack, cookie, and breakfast.

That's right, I said breakfast.

Cinnamon Sugar Pie Crust Cookies

Ingredients:
2 store-bought pie crusts {or homemade, this is what I always use}
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tbsp. ground cinnamon {I like a lot of cinnamon. If you don't, just use one tablespoon!}

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
2. Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
3. In a bowl, mix together your sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside.
4. Unroll the dough on a piece of parchment paper that has been lightly floured. Then, with your cookie cutter {I used pie crust cutters from Williams-Sonoma}, cut out the shapes and transfer them to your baking sheet.
5. Melt the butter in the microwave.
6. Using a pastry brush, coat each cookie with the melted butter. Then, sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture.
7. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
8. Let these cool slightly before enjoying! ;]

holiday sweaters

There is just something about having a fun sweater during the holiday season that I love. Bright colors, cheeky graphics, traditional patterns, lots of sparkle - what's not to love? They're perfect for any occasion, dressed up for holiday parties or dressed down for a day of shopping. Whether you want something more classic or something fun, I've rounded up a few of my favorites to share with you!

Sprinkles and Style || Holiday and Winter Sweaters

TOPSHOP is on their game with their selection of holiday sweaters. I'm considering buying the both the holly and sequin present sweaters... And the jeweled sweater from J. Crew? Loving that one too!

Are you a fan of winter patterned and printed sweaters?

Have a wonderful and fun weekend!

juicy couture goodies

I must be living under a rock because I have been missing out on some really pretty things from Juicy Couture. I will admit that it isn't usually a brand that I'm drawn to immediately, but when I saw these on Shopbop, I did a double take. And of course, I picked out some of the things that caught my eye to share with you!

Sprinkles and Style || Juicy Couture Favorites

Don't you think they're pretty? I'm also really loving this chic bow bathing suit {too early?}, this vintage-inspired lace dress, and, of course, these velour pants.

Are you a Juicy Couture fan? What pieces are you loving?

eat this, wear that: turkey and sweet potato hash

Happy December!

I'm still feeling stuffed from all the turkey {see what I did there?} I ate on Thanksgiving and the days after. Is it just me or does turkey and stuffing and sweet potatoes and bacon Brussels sprouts taste better as leftovers than they do during the actual meal? Anyone?...

Sprinkles and Style || Eat This, Wear That: Turkey and Sweet Potato Hash

If you're looking for something to do with all those leftovers, this hash is probably a good way to go. Turkey, sweet potatoes, and crisp green apples? Count me in. And a color pairing of beige neutrals with festive greens and bright orange needs to become one of my go-tos because I love the way it looks together.

Happy {Cyber} Monday!

If you're looking for some great deals today, here are some of my favorites:

Tons of deals so get to shopping! ;] And if you do plan on lightening up your wallet a bit, it wouldn't hurt to use Ebates to get some cash back while you're at it.
